Meet Your Certified Sisterlocks(TM) Consultant
I started my journey in Sisterlocks(TM) in 2009.
Sisterlocks(TM) are small, uniform locks which are put in using a Sisterlocks(TM) tool and using a particular pattern depending on the customers hair texture.
The Sisterlocks(TM) process consists of three visits: The first of which is the formal Consultation where the customer discusses their needs, asks questions and the Consultant conducts a hair analysis including putting in some tester locks. The customer is given advice on how to wash, style and manage their locks.
The second visit is the locking session and occurs up to 2 weeks and two shampoos later. This is usually over 2 days and depending on hair length, density and size of locks can take between 10-18 hours. Under normal circumstances, customers will leave with a minimum of 400 locks on their head. They will also be given a complimentary Shampoo and Hair Mist.
The third visit is 4 weeks later and consists of a visual inspection of the scalp and hair, correction of any issues and a full retightening of the whole head.
In terms of maintenance or retightening, this will depend on the speed of growth and could range from between every 4, 6, 7 or 8 weeks.
Sisterlocks(TM) can be styled from day one.

Hyacinth Installation
This is Hyacinth installation. She has never worn her natural hair out and usually wears wigs or adds extensions to her hair. After doing her research she chose to come home to Sisterlocks(TM). She shaved her hair and allowed it to grow out into this even shape above.
16 hours and 20 minutes later and she is on her Sisterlocks(TM) journey. It is a very satisfying and humbling experience to play a part in some ones natural hair journey.
Her hair looks very glossy and shiny in these pictures but as time goes by and her locks begin to change and swell, I would expect her locks to lose this glossy look.
Hyacinth swims regularly so I gave her some instructions of how to keep her new Sisterlocks(TM) in tact.

Hyacinth hair 8 weeks post installation
Here is Hyacinth at 8 weeks post installation. As you can see her hair has grown and lengthened. Due to her curl pattern and not wanting to disturb her locks too much, she washed twice during this time. She loves her locks and I was reliably informed that her Sister ran her hands through her hair in admiration. Hyacinths HAIR BAND, (I had to put this in bold as this was an essential item for her for many many years) has been put into retirement never to see the light of day again. As usual after her retightening session Hyacinth was living in the mirror admiring her great hair.
Petal Hair Installation
Here is Petals, she was transitioning for nearly 1 year and cut the relaxer out of her hair. She has dense hair which is very straight near the nape. This is her at the start of her Sisterlocks(TM) journey.
The tips of her hair still have some relaxer thereby forming the curly qs on the ends. These may eventually seal and or drop off or form the buds which will seal the end of her locks.
Lots of positive talk and laughter and nearly 13 hours later and she was reborn into her new journey and ready to face the world.

Petal at 12 months Post Installation
This is petal at 12 weeks post retightening wow look how her hair has developed! Her locks have really swollen and lengthened. As time goes by they will become more cylindrical in shape. Her hair was flat twisted up to the centre with a side flat twist. Hair was secured using her locks and she was ready to go.
